The Hidden Struggles of Mobile App Development (And Why I'm Still Pushing Forward)
Building Dirt Slingin Tech has been one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done—but that doesn’t mean it’s been easy.
One thing I’ve learned? The hardest part isn’t always writing the code—it’s jumping through the hoops of app store policies that change without warning.
Here are just a couple of the recent hurdles I’ve had to clear:
🚫 Google Play Rejection
Google denied an update to the app because I didn’t have a website page with instructions on how users can delete their accounts.
The ironic part? The app already has a built-in "Delete Account" section on the account screen.
But that wasn’t enough—they specifically wanted it documented on a publicly accessible web page. So I built one.
🍎 Apple App Store Rejection
Apple rejected the app during the second round of updates, even though the MVP version was already approved.
Why? They wanted a video showing my app connecting to the Bluetooth device (the same connection they already approved months ago).
So I recorded another video and resubmitted.
These kinds of roadblocks slow things down. But I believe in what we’re building—and I’m committed to being open with the DST community about what’s happening behind the scenes.
If you’re a developer, racer, or small business owner going through similar things: you’re not alone.
🔧 Support the App
If you want to support the work I’m doing and get a jump on collecting your own race data, check out the RaceBox device I use. It’s the same GPS-based performance tool that pairs with DST.

Every purchase helps me keep building features for the racing community 🏁
Thanks for sticking with me through the ups and downs.
